This Senior Mechanical Engineer with Advanced Manufacturing focus position is within the manufacturing function and will support manufacturing development for new and innovative electromechanical insulin pump device products. Specifically, this position will work to design and implement capable new assembly and test tools and processes for the manufacture of new insulin pump products. This position will work within a cross functional team that includes RD engineers in support of business-critical new product development (from initial development to post launch support).


**A Day in the Life**


+ Design of pilot manufacturing fixtures and equipment with focus on plastic assembly.

+ Onsite support of development engineering prototype builds. Provide feedback to the development team on observed manufacturing performance and identification of failure modes and root cause.

+ Conducting gage Repeatability and Reproducibility studies: design, execution, and analysis.

+ Process characterization and design of experiments planning and use of relevant statistical techniques and tools.

+ Provide effective manufacturing input to product design engineers to improve manufacturability of prototype or conceptual product designs. Provide guidance to the product development team regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

+ Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, testing, and material handling.

+ Design sequence of operations and specifies manufacturing tools and equipment.

+ Author production documents, templates, reports and specifications. Author equipment protocols and conduct qualifications/validations.

+ Develop and communicate innovative and novel ideas to tackle difficult challenges impacting the product developement effort.

+ Interact with production personnel to provide training, collaborate on improvement concepts, and assist with production line improvements and optimization.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree in Engineering or Sciences with 4+ years of relevant product or manufacturing development experience or a Masters degree in Engineering or Sciences with 2+ years of relevant product or manufacturing development experience.


**Nice to Have**


+ Experience developing and executing calibration, process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and Test Method Validation (TMV) protocols/reports.

+ Lean Six Sigma experience.

+ Experience with Medical device product development for products that require plastic assembly manufacturing

+ Experience with manufacturing automation development (assembly or test)

+ Experience with process development including process characterization and analyzing processes for statistical capability using MiniTab or equivalent

+ Experience with 3D modeling software, ideally Solidworks for the design of manufacturing fixturing and tooling

+ Experience in both design and manufacturing roles
