Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is currently recruiting for an **SLS Avionics and Electrical Chief Engineer** . This position can be located in **Promontory Utah,** **Huntsville Alabama** , or **Kennedy Space Center Florida** .

**Role description & Responsibilities:**

**The SLS Avionics and Electrical Chief Engineer** is responsible for technical engineering planning and execution, and is accountable to the NASA Programs Chief Engineer. Position is responsible for all SLS Booster avionics and electrical systems engineering, including design, testing, and verification/certification. Furthermore, the position includes project responsibilities associated with test checkout of electrical/TVC/TVA related systems, facility technical readiness, and coordination with the related SLS vehicle ground operations teams/personnel for interfaces at the BFF, VAB, and on and off location data centers. A particular focus of this position is the oversight of the BOLE program avionics architecture design technical direction; responsibilities include overall failure tolerance design of the avionics systems functionality, communication systems, and guidance systems execution/functionality. Current program scope includes development and production. This position ensures that technical integrity of the complete booster electrical system is achieved within cost and schedule constraints.

**Job Duties:**

+ Design and Production related Technical Project Planning / Logic Development
+ Managerial responsibilities for team of engineering located across the U.S.
+ Coordination of assignments with required technical teams and resources
+ Project-level scope execution tracking and control
+ Compliant design release to meet requirements
+ Specific Electrical/Avionics, LRU, and TVC technical design, oversight, test and integrated systems performance
+ BOLE specific power systems selection, dev/qual and procurement oversight
+ Proposal support
+ Supplier technical oversight
+ Support for Configuration Control Boards, Flight Review Boards and Material Review Boards
+ Customer technical interactions and regular communication

**Experience Requirements:** The selected candidate should have a working knowledge of both Analog and Digital systems, familiarity with common aerospace bus architectures (MIL-STD-1553, EIA-422), and experience with FPGA/ASIC design in a complex Avionics application along with related VHDL experience. The candidate should have significant SIL/HIL experience and contractor/supplier support background.

+ Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years experience with fault-tolerant avionics and electrical systems, and experience with related test and manufacturing processes.
+ Candidate must have significant anomaly investigation and fault analysis experience
+ Ability to travel: Travel expectation of 5% 15%

**Experience Preferred:** A preferred candidate will possess significant background in launch vehicle electrical systems design, performance, and demonstrated related systems and component problem solving skills along with the following:

+ Strong communication, planning, project management and presentation skills
+ Experience in Requirements Development, Allocation, Specification Development and Verification planning and reporting.
+ Significant experience with electrical systems, related mechanical systems, and materials/processing methods/techniques associated with design, build, test and qualification of related LRUs
+ Experience with integrated systems from breadboard-level to test/qualification and SIL/HIL oversight, including software / firmware implementation.
+ Personnel management experience.Experience with configuration management processes and practices, statistical process control, and supplier management.

**Education/Certifications**

+ BS degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
+ MS degree in electrical engineering or related field (preferred)

Salary Range: $143,400.00 - $226,400.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
