UW MEDICINE CAPITAL ACCOUNTING has an exciting opportunity for a PROGRAM FINANCIAL ANALYST.

This position is responsible for the daily accounting, reporting and analysis for fixed assets and construction projects.

The Program Financial Analyst will also be responsible for the analytical work that underlies the production and review of the hospital financial statements as they pertain to capital assets and the depreciation of such assets as well as responsibility for analyzing, documenting and correcting problems associated with the financial reporting of these capital assets.

Complexity arises from the continued work across UWM to integrate and consolidate clinical and administrative systems, processes and resources.  Chief among these initiatives is the UW Finance Transformation (UWFT), where this individual will play a role in the design and deployment of future state fixed asset, practices and processes.


RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Accurate reporting and accounting of UWMC Capital assets is critical to making good, effective and strategic business decisions.  With current plant and equip valued at $860M, it is critical that these capital assets be tracked and accounted for properly.

  • Equipment Tracking/Accounting.  Designs and develops databases and spreadsheets to monitor UWMC Equipment purchases.  Works closely with Finance, Material Management and Campus Accounting on equipment issues. Assures the integrity and accuracy of these databases.

  • Capitalization, depreciation and related accounting entries.  Prepares all calculations and general ledger entries related to capital including depreciation, retirements, salvage value or other entries.  Assures entries are consistent with GAAP, GASB and other relevant policies and guidelines.  Develops/revises and communicates accounting related capital policies and procedures as necessary.

  • Capital Reporting.  Prepares, analyzes and distributes capital reports for use by accounting, hospital administrators, finance and auditors.

  • OASIS asset management system.  Maintains the Medical Center assets on the UW asset accounting system.  Prepares asset documentation including total cost and useful life and enters this information into the asset accounting system.  Prepares asset retirement documentation as required.  Reconciles report data from UW with internal UWMC asset information to verify accuracy. Works closely with UW capital on OASIS system improvements.

  • This position will have lead responsibilities on some of the asset accounts, entries and reconciliations assigned depending on the complexity of the assignment. A high % of the work will be to lead work with minimal review performed.


    REQUIRED::
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related field or equivalent experience AND 4/5 years Accounting or Analyst experience.

    DESIRED:
    CPA
    Healthcare accounting experience.
