JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:

Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) is seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly skilled Electric Utility Director to lead the NM Operations Projects team. The selected candidate will have senior-level utility experience and possess excellent leadership, communication, and people skills. The next Director will be part of PNM's Director team of leadership. The Director will at times present to the PNM Executive team and PNM Board for project approval. Looking for an individual to promote a positive work and safety culture, demonstrate professionalism and dedication to serving our customers, remain calm under pressure, and effectively collaborate and earn trust with all levels of the organization, industry partners, and community stakeholders. Our ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, support, and develop a talented team of 30+ members with close interactions with the engineering teams, environmental, land service, and financial teams along with contractor support teams.

Responsible for the overall direction and allocation of resources for team providing the project management, local government permitting, construction, and construction management for the company¿s transmission infrastructure. Manages overall budgets and staffing necessary to meet the above duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for and directs activities for the construction of transmission systems for New Mexico operations

Resolves conflicts related to the construction of these systems among other PNM groups, consultants, and contractors

Directs and oversees the large construction project management involved in the coordination and overall management of large electric transmission projects

Directs and oversees the local government permitting process involved in approving large electric transmission projects

Provides planning, direction, inter-division, and group coordination necessary for the achievement of the company goals and critical success factors

Leads and motivates the division to work toward company goals and critical success factors

Communicates corporate goals to the workforce

Provides a work environment conducive to safe, efficient work

Coordinates and controls budgets and oversees other administrative duties including performance reviews, hiring, and payroll

COMPETENCIES:

Diverse engineering knowledge and broad non-engineering knowledge of the various aspects of an electric utility

Complex and diverse mental abilities

Broad knowledge of managerial principles and skills

Good managerial and people skills

Understanding of environmental issues, concerns, overall policies and procedures

Understanding of local issues including city, county, state, and tribal governments

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree with seven to nine years of related experience including two years of management experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.

Master's degree preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess a current, legally valid driver's license and meet the company's driving record requirements.

Professional Engineering license is preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations

Ability to write complex reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Ability to communicate corporate and department goals clearly and provide specific work instructions in both verbal and electronic format while keeping a motivational and non-derogatory tone

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Working knowledge of database, inventory, spreadsheet, and word processing software

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

Ability to solve complex practical problems, primarily technical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to integrate technical solutions into larger corporate directives and goals to insure compatibility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stand or walk up to 1/3 of the time and regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time. Manual dexterity is required to perform computer applications and good vision is required to perform all aspects of the job. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.

Some out-of-town and overnight travel may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office environment with occasional visits to the field.

Salary Grade: G02
Minimum Midpoint Maximum
$119,725 - $167,615 - $215,506
