Min Salary: $29.96
Max Salary: $45.97
Position Summary:
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Classification Title Facilities Engineer 2 position for the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU).
The School of Nuclear Science & Engineering (NSE) in the College of Engineering (CoE) at Oregon State University (OSU) has an active and vibrant research program that engages with many sponsoring agencies concurrently. There presently exist numerous large-scale thermal hydraulic experimental facilities with ranging conditions of operation and working fluids to support these sponsoring agencies through data collection and technology development. Further, the Marcum research group has additional thermal hydraulic experimental facilities which are presently under design and will be fabricated and installed for operation in the next year.
The Marcum research group is in search of a new and exciting role to support the immediate and sustained operations and maintenance of our existing and soon-to-be-installed facilities housed within the Radiation Center Building on OSU main-campus. This position is an important role for NSE and the Marcum research group to ensure these projects, and their respective infrastructure function reliably and consistently through the life of contracted research activities. We seek an individual who is effective and proactive at communicating and having inclusive conversations with the members of the Marcum research group that lead to mutually agreed-upon paths forward in solving facility troubleshooting issues, maintenance and operational logistics, calibration coordination and execution, and service contract development. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the work of 1-4 undergraduate students and collectively managing and monitoring all instrumentation calibration deadlines and activities for all Marcum research group thermal hydraulic test facilities including, but not limited to the Hydro-Mechanical Fuel Test Facility (HMFTF), the Transient Reactor Test Loop (TRTL), the Traveling Wave Reactor Loop (TWRL), the Naval Reactor Test Loop (NRTL), the OSU-SERTTA test loop, Sodium Corrosion Cracking Test (SoCCRATES) facility, and the Sodium Flow Investigation Experiment (SoFIE). The incumbent is responsible for conducting all activities while maintaining and complying with contractually obligated quality assurance requirements for a respective project and facility. They will work collaboratively with the lead researchers to identify strategic paths forward that continue to sustain and build on the research groups' national and international reputation as a leader in experimental thermal hydraulic research.
This important role is integral to the overall operations of the Marcum research group and we are excited for this member to be joining our community.
