This position is a hybrid position - working 2 days a week in the Austin, TX office and 3 days remote. 


The LCRA Transmission Reliability Engineering team is looking for an energetic and driven engineer to join the team. Transmission Reliability Engineering (TRE) engineers do their part to keep the lights on for Texans by maintaining substation equipment and keeping it reliable. TRE engineers recommend equipment replacements and enhancements through capital improvement projects as well as failed equipment processes. A successful TRE engineer participates in industry collaboration networks such as Doble and NATF to make sure that LCRA implements the latest tested technologies and practices available. As an engineer, TRE collaborate with many departments in LCRA including purchasing, project management, planning, operations, maintenance as well as design engineering. TRE engineers maintain constant communication with LCRA’s equipment suppliers to aid in troubleshooting equipment failures and issues. Some equipment that TRE Engineers maintain includes: Auto Transformers, Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, Arrestors, Reactors, Substation Batteries, Circuit Switchers, Switches, and Substation Line equipment. The TRE group does not participate in engineering design, instead they serve as a maintenance/operations engineer aimed at preventing and mitigating equipment failures.

You will be trusted to:

Respond to equipment failures and support maintenance personnel as needed
Recommend capital improvement projects through the annual capital project cycle
Travel to substations to monitor and troubleshoot equipment
Participate in Industry Organizations to stay current on best practices
Monitor equipment heath through reviewing KPI's and metrics
Interface with multiple groups as needed to maintain reliability of substation equipment

 


Requirements

You qualify with:

- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas  
- Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

Experience in electric utility or generation as a maintenance or design engineer. If lacking Texas Professional Engineering license, must have the ability to become licensed within 6 months of hire.
