Role Description
We are hiring a Senior Electrical Test Engineer for a full-time, on-site position. In this role, you will work at substations and power plants across Georgia, performing protective relay setting and testing, troubleshooting, and AC/DC circuit verification. This position involves statewide travel to provide essential electrical testing services.
Responsibilities
- Serving as the primary point of contact for both customers and employees
- Problem solving where needed
- Know how to interpret one-lines, three lines, DC schematics and wiring diagrams
- Perform testing/routine maintenance of relaying (electro-mechanical and micro-processor).
- Perform testing of power line carrier (RFL, PowerComm, Pulsar, Trench)
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment
- Write procedures, test plans and/or switching
- Plan, schedule, and complete test activities efficiently, safely and without service interruptions
Work Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of field experience in substation commissioning.
Qualifications
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or an engineering degree is preferred. Alternatively, candidates with a mandatory two-year Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering plus six years of substation and/or power plant commissioning experience also qualify.
- Be familiar with relay test sets (Doble, Omicron), and carrier test set (PLC PowerComm)
- Results-oriented; capable of scheduling and completing testing with minimum supervision
- Understand and follow applicable clearance procedures and safety practices
- Self-motivated
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Exercises good communication, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in independently and in a team setting
- Ability and willingness to work out of town
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
