Job Summary
This position is responsible for supervising all electric transmission, electric overhead, and electric underground distribution activities. The incumbent is responsible for the efficient operation of these areas, and the coordination of activities with other departments, governmental agencies, and the public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following and other duties as assigned:
Exercises general supervision over the Electric Transmission and Distribution Division. Makes recommendations to and confers with the Director of Electric Operations regarding division activities, general policies and goals.
Schedules and supervises personnel; conducts fair and honest performance appraisals, identifies and manages employee development needs, coaches and assists employees with job-related concerns, and establishes and maintains a positive, safe, and productive working environment.
Assists with department operating and capital expenditure budgets submitted for approval and operates department within the approved budgets.
Plans, develops, and supervises all scheduling and maintenance for work activities involved in electric operations, including technical support. Assists in cost estimates for proposed maintenance or repair jobs. As new systems and technological improvements such as work and asset management systems/tools are implemented, the Supervisor will work with the field forces to implement.
Performs regular worksite visits to assure that personnel are following all applicable safe work practices and policies. Also assures that work is being performed in a productive manner. To ensure a safe workplace, the Supervisor will enforce use of all safety tools and practices such as SiteDocs (safety software) and NSBU policies and procedures.
Maintains labor and material records.
Conducts continued studies and reviews on-the-job methods, construction standards, and equipment utilization in an effort to improve efficiency and service.
Confers with operating supervisors, engineering personnel, and consultants on new facilities, operating problems, and technical questions that may arise.
Creates and develops policies/procedures and prepares technical reports for continued system improvement and quality control.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanic parts; high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; and outside weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, and risk of electrical shock.
Education and Experience
This position requires the following education and experience:
High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or a related field preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in electric utility transmission and distribution operations required. A minimum of five years of experience in supervisory work required.

Other Qualifications
Florida Driver's License Class E required. Ability to work flexible hours, as required. Employee is subject to call-outs at all hours of the day and night, on weekends, and holidays, and is expected to report to work when called. Employee must respond to 350 Slaton Street within forty minutes of receiving a call. Employee must maintain a working phone number.
