Crew Leader Line: Assign work to, assist, and supervise an Overhead field crew. Coordinate the work as to properly safeguard employees, the public, and the property of customers and the Company. Perform related work as assigned.
Primary Duties- To perform the work of Lineman or the work of any other member of a line crew and to assist them in their work: to assign work to a crew (numbering from 2 to 5 members including themselves) doing operating maintenance and construction work in the field on energize or de-energize Electric transmission, and distribution lines. to assign work to a crew member and to coordinate their work so as to properly safeguard the employees, the public and the property of customers and the company.
- Instructing and training an Overhead Electrician or Apprentice. Prepare various reports such as hours worked, material and equipment required, work performed, field repairs and job brief.
- Restoring service or eliminating trouble on the transmission and distribution systems, including: customers equipment, involving determining the equipment at fault and making permanent or temporary repairs by performing such work as cutting conductors in the clear, replacing or repairing poles and attachments, conductors, transformers, and other devices and equipment, transferring loads to other circuits, and connecting emergency transformers and generators.
- Performing routine maintenance work on the transmission and distribution system, involving such duties as replacing or repairing poles and attachments, transformers, and other devices and equipment, including temporary grounding, pulling slack, trimming trees, washing insulators, maintaining equipment in designated vaults and electric service stations, and assisting in identifying, testing, and phasing underground lines.
- Performing overhead or underground residential type distribution work and such light construction work as installing or removing services and single-phase meters, installing and removing conductors, poles and attachments, transformers, street lighting fixtures, and other devices and equipment.
- Performing switching operations, under the direction of a dispatcher, on the transmission and distribution system, including street light circuits, and at distribution centers, electric service stations, designated network centers and unattended substations, involving operating such equipment as switches, live line clamps, voltage regulators, circuit breakers, fuses, and other electrical devices.
- Inspecting lines and equipment, distribution centers, electric service stations, and designated network centers, recording instrument readings, and reporting maintenance and repair work needed.
Job Scope- Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
- This position also requires participation in the local union and payment of union dues. Candidates should only apply that can adhere to the minimum requirements as described above.
Minimum Qualifications- Pass qualifying schools, as required
- Must have at least 3.5 years of Journeyman Overhead Lineman experience with a thorough understanding of operating and construction standards.
- Successful completion of the EEI Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) Test.
- Successful completion of a technical and behavioral interview.
- Must be qualified to conduct energized 12kV rubber glove work.
- Ability to successfully climb a 40ft utility pole.
- Must have valid CDL.
